The PRC may still not be directly providing weapons to Russia, but it is providing materials and equipment that helps sustain Russia's war and its occupation of Ukrainian territory. Preventing future flows of goods to Russia that can help fuel the Kremlin's war machine is a challenging problem.
In March 2015, Russia, citing NATO's de facto breach of the 1990 Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, said that the suspension of its participation in it, announced in 2007, was now "complete" through halting its participation in the consulting group on the Treaty.
The two long-serving leaders have had a close relationship. Following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Israel-Russia relations took a downturn during Yair Lapid's tenure as Prime Minister of Israel. Relations improved after Netanyahu's return as Prime Minister, although cooler than they were before the invasion.
