These brilliant books are all standalones so can be read in any order – but for those who like to start back where it all began here are Shari Lapena's books in order of publication!
ABOUT THE BOOK
They live in upstate New York in a beautiful neighbourhood and have normal lives. That is, until the day that Karen gets hospitalized after her car speeds out of control and she gets in an accident in the roughest part of town.
The Stranger shows Meursault to be interested far more in the physical aspects of the world around him than in its social or emotional aspects. This focus on the sensate world results from the novel's assertion that there exists no higher meaning or order to human life.
The very final moments of the film see Mark break down in tears – heartbroken by the nature of the crime, and also by the fact that it could have been committed to someone who he had come to know very well. The Stranger is currently streaming on Netflix.
It should be obvious to anyone that the body in Killane's wall is his missing wife who he actually killed all those years ago, but Adam can only think of Corrine and his first gut fear is that the body is somehow his wife on this episode of The Stranger.
Ryan reveals to her that Carrie Anne didn't kill their parents. In fact, she died during the accident on the swing set. It was Ryan who killed their parents, after suffering years of abuse because they blamed him for his younger sister's death.
Karen replies the book was about a man who did not know he was going to die, but if Harold knew and accepted his fate, he is the kind of person who deserves to live. Karen's narration closes the film over a montage of Harold's newly invigorated life, ending on the ruined wristwatch that saved his life.
What happens in the end of her book?
The End of Her Spoilers:
Patrick had killed his first wife Lindsey on purpose. When Stephanie found out she couldn't trust him anymore, she killed him and made it look like a suicide. Erica suspected what Stephanie had done. Erica was blackmailing the couple that adopted her child as well as Patrick's business partner.
Every story is unique and independent of the series as a whole, but that said they are all connected by central characters and other plot points, but again it's not necessary to read them in order but it does help!
It doesn't really matter either way though; it's up to you. Greta No, Danielle, you don't have to read it first.
The house that was used in the film is located at Culver Studios in Culver City, California.
"Stranger in the House" is a song written by English musician Elvis Costello. Costello recorded the song as a duet with country music star George Jones in the summer of 1978 for Jones' 1979 album My Very Special Guests.
The sequel to Fatty Legs, this book tells the story of what happened when an Aboriginal girl in Canada's North returned home after two years at an Indian Residential School. It delves into heavy themes like loss, identity, spirituality, racism, and the protagonist's fears that her family will go to hell.
The Stranger is based on a tragic true crime case involving the murder of 13-year-old schoolboy Daniel Morcombe, and the decision to use the case as inspiration for the movie has caused controversy.
It was then found that Camus had based Meursault on his close friend Galindo, and a search was therefore made for evidence of Galindo's character; this revealed him to be an intelligent but odd person, who exhibited the characteristic impairment of social and personal behavior of Asperger's syndrome.
Major conflict After committing murder, Meursault struggles against society's attempts to manufacture and impose rational explanations for his attitudes and actions. This struggle is embodied by Meursault's battle with the legal system that prosecutes him.
After speaking with the chaplain, Meursault no longer views his impending execution with hope or despair. He accepts death as an inevitable fact and looks forward to it with peace. This realization of death's inevitability constitutes Meursault's triumph over society.
Why is Meursault happy at the end of the book?
As opposed to earlier in the novel, when Meursault was passively content at best, here Meursault finds that he is actively happy once he opens himself to the reality of human existence. Meursault finds that he is also happy with his position in society. He does not mind being a loathed criminal.
Meursault is found guilty of premeditated murder and sentenced to death by guillotine.
She faked her pregnancy at the beginning of the series as a way of keeping Adam in the picture, as she was worried he would leave her for good. Adam asks Sally if Corinne ever called her and she says: “Yes”. Corinne had called her during a particular case.
It is revealed that dodgy police officer Katz murdered Heidi Doyle when he went to her for information about 'the Stranger', who he was being paid to track down on behalf of a wealthy client who was being blackmailed for using a 'sugar baby' website.
Okay, in short, The Stranger was hired by Bob at the football club to investigate Corrine, because Tripp (also from the club) convinced him she was going to blame Bob for the missing money.
His House's Monster Is A Night Witch
The gimlet-eyed monster of His House is explained by Rial when she tells Bol a story that her mother told her as a child.
Rial says she killed the witch. As for the ghosts, she says they are still with them, and always will be as the ghosts are part of who they are. But the two affirm they will live with the ghosts while making a new life together. The film ends with Bol and Rial peacefully sitting with the ghosts of their past.

Stranger in the House (1967 film)
The movie Stranger Than Fiction plays with the idea of fate, the unknown, and the inevitability of death. Harold, the main character, has to contemplate these in his adventure to uncover the one pulling his strings to his preordained death.
The theme song is referred to as "Stranger Things" on the show's soundtrack, but Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer told EW that the theme song was created from a sketch called "Prophecy." The song features analog bass synthesizers (making it so addictive) and it's built around a C major arpeggio.

His House is social commentary but also an out and out horror. It also uses elements of Sudanese myth as Rial (Wunmi Mosaku) and Bol (Sope Dirisu) are haunted by an 'apeth' or 'night witch' who has risen from the ocean and pursued the couple, who wants them to atone for their sins.
Rial figures out that the evil in the house is an apeth or "night witch." She tells Bol the story of a poor man in her village who accidentally stole from an apeth by the river. When the thief built his home, the apeth moved in with him and haunted him.
